About the Event
Bank of America Chicago Marathon 2026
The 2026 Bank of America Chicago Marathon — the 48th edition of this iconic race — takes place on Sunday, October 11, 2026, starting and finishing in the heart of Grant Park, Chicago, Illinois, USA.
One of the six prestigious Abbott World Marathon Majors and holder of the World Athletics Elite Platinum Label, the Chicago Marathon is recognized as one of the greatest running events on the planet. Each year, runners from every U.S. state and more than 100 countries converge on the Windy City to take on its legendary fast, flat course — a course where world records have been shattered, including the men's marathon world record set in 2023.
The race accommodates approximately 55,000 runners and winds through 29 of Chicago's diverse neighborhoods, taking participants past iconic landmarks, vibrant communities, and roaring spectators. The scenic loop course passes through areas such as Old Town, Little Italy, Pilsen, and Chinatown before returning triumphantly to Grant Park.
Race packet pickup takes place at the Abbott Health & Fitness Expo at McCormick Place in the days leading up to the event. The course time limit is 6 hours and 30 minutes. Entries are available through the official Charity Program and Tour Operator Program.
