Bank of America Chicago Marathon 2026 & 2027
The Bank of America Chicago Marathon is one of the world's most celebrated road races and a proud member of the Abbott World Marathon Majors. The 48th edition takes place on Sunday, October 11, 2026, with the 2027 edition anticipated for Sunday, October 10, 2027 — both starting and finishing in the iconic Grant Park in the heart of Chicago, Illinois, USA.
Each year, approximately 55,000 runners from more than 100 countries and all 50 U.S. states gather on the streets of Chicago to conquer 26.2 miles. The fast, flat course winds through 29 vibrant neighborhoods, offering participants an architectural and cultural tour of the city — passing through areas such as Old Town, Little Italy, and Chinatown. The race has been the stage for multiple world records and continues to attract elite professional athletes alongside debut marathoners and charity runners.
More than one million spectators line the streets on race day, cheering runners from the start line to the final stretch down Columbus Drive. Participants must be 16 years of age or older on race day. Entry is available via lottery drawing, time qualification, legacy status, charity program, or official tour operator. Applications and entry information are managed exclusively at chicagomarathon.com.
