About the Event

The Championships, Wimbledon 2026

The 2026 Wimbledon Championships mark the 139th edition of the world's oldest and most prestigious tennis Grand Slam. Organised by the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC), the tournament takes place at its iconic home on Church Road, Wimbledon, London SW19, from Monday, 29 June to Sunday, 12 July 2026.

Wimbledon is the only Grand Slam still played on natural grass — 100% perennial ryegrass mowed to an exact height of 8 mm — making it truly unique among the four majors. The main showpiece is Centre Court, which holds 14,979 spectators and features a retractable roof installed in 2009 to protect play from London's unpredictable summer weather. No. 1 Court (capacity 12,345) and No. 2 Court are also key show courts, with matches played across 18 championship grass courts in total.

From the legendary Queue on Wimbledon Park to the public ballot, strawberries and cream, and the strict all-white dress code for players, the Championships blend century-old tradition with world-class athletic excellence. Qualifying rounds begin on 22 June 2026 at the Roehampton venue, before the main draw serves off on 29 June. The Ladies' Singles Final is scheduled for Saturday, 11 July, with the Gentlemen's Singles Final closing the fortnight on Sunday, 12 July 2026.
