Dakar Rally 2027 — Saudi Arabia
The Dakar Rally 2027 is the 49th edition of the world's most gruelling off-road endurance race, organised by the Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO). Confirmed at the official Paris route presentation on 5 May 2026, the rally opens with the prologue on 1 January 2027 and concludes with the final stage and award ceremony on 15 January 2027.
Starting and finishing at King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) on the Red Sea coast, the 2027 route is a giant clockwise loop across Saudi Arabia. Competitors head north through Yanbu and AlUla, swing east to Hail, push south through Al Duwadimi to a marathon refuge, and continue to Bisha for the rest day, before looping back through Wadi Ad-Dawasir and Al Bahah to KAEC.
The 2027 edition sets a Saudi-era record with a total distance of 8,390 km, of which 5,320 km are competitive special sections across 13 stages plus a prologue. Categories include motorcycles, quads, cars, UTVs and trucks. The event is broadcast in more than 190 countries, making it one of the most-watched motorsport events on the planet.
