Formula 1 Returns to Interlagos: São Paulo Grand Prix 2026
The Formula 1 MSC Cruises Grande Prêmio de São Paulo 2026 takes place on 6–8 November 2026 at the legendary Autódromo José Carlos Pace, better known as Interlagos, located in São Paulo, Brazil. This race marks the 21st round of the 2026 FIA Formula One World Championship.
Interlagos, whose name literally means "between lakes", has been home to the Brazilian Grand Prix since 1973. The 4.309 km circuit runs in a counterclockwise direction — a rarity in Formula 1 — and features the iconic Senna S at Turns 1 and 2, elevation changes, banked corners, and long straights that reward both technical precision and raw speed. With a capacity of approximately 60,000 spectators, the circuit is one of the most atmospheric venues on the entire calendar.
The São Paulo Grand Prix is renowned for its carnival-like atmosphere, passionate local fans, and unpredictable racing conditions. It has hosted several dramatic championship deciders and was voted the best race of the 2024 season by F1 fans worldwide. The contract keeping the race at Interlagos runs until at least 2030, guaranteeing Brazil's place in Formula 1 for years to come.
There is no Sprint Race on the 2026 São Paulo weekend. Free Practice sessions open the event on Friday, qualifying takes place on Saturday, and the Grand Prix fires off on Sunday 8 November.
